The Passim School of Music invites you to a bass workshop with Tom Bianchi. Ask yourself, how many acoustic guitarists are there in the folk scene? Then ask yourself, how many of them would sound great with some solid bass behind them? What’s the trick to laying down the bass part to a good song? What adds to the song, what takes away? How do you know what to play and what to leave out? How do you write your own song on bass? Being a good bass player is much easier than you may think, but you need some direction. If you have a bass, it’s time to dust it off!

Tom Bianchi is a singer/songwriter/solo bassist, but he has also been playing live and recording with numerous singer/songwriters for years as a session bass player. He is on dozens of recordings and has played at live shows and sessions for folks like Ryan Fitzsimmons, Danielle Miraglia, Kevin So, Teresa Storch, Jen Murdza, Syd, Jody Blackwell and many more. This is a one time only class geared to teach you some bass player tricks of the trade. Whether you are a beginner bassist or you’ve been playing for years, this is a chance to hear some words of wisdom and learn from one of Boston’s most well known bass players.

The Passim School of Music offers music classes for adults and teens. Now you can learn to play an instrument in the same building as Club Passim. Classes include mandolin, harmonica, banjo, guitar, music business, music theory, fiddle, voice, and more. For more information, please email Sarah at sarah@passimcenter.org.
