Ukulele Performance with Pops Bayless
Class size limited to just 8 students
Pops Bayless has been a performer all of his life. In ukulele performance class Pops will share his secrets for becoming the kind of performer that folks want to hear again and again.
You will learn about good stage setup, developing set lists, using microphones and delivering schtick. Pops will explain and cover his techniques for lightning fast strums. Students will also discuss and explore music theory and song structure. With this knowledge folks will be able to spice up their playing with moveable chords and learn the fundamentals of playing in any key.
Pop's students were a hit at last year’s concert at the Hedgehog Music Showcase and will be performing again this year.

Playing Chord Melody with Mark “Spanky” Gutierrez
Class size limited to just 8 students
For the intermediate player, the most difficult hurdle is understanding how to move into playing melody and chords at the same time.
With a solid understanding of music theory and how it relates to the ukulele fretboard a player can throw away his chord charts and begin to find how melody can be found within the chords up and down the neck.
Mark, a proven workshop leader and performer will patiently walk you through the process of understanding music theory and applying it to developing and arranging chord melody solos.
Students will demonstrate their knowledge and skills when they perform at the Saturday night concert at the Hedgehog Music Showcase.

Construction with Geoff Davis
Class size limited to 6 students
Participants in the ukulele construction class will each build a mahogany soprano ukulele with a Spanish heel. Geoff’s construction method utilizes jigs and fixtures to ensure that student’s are able to build a high quality instrument. This ukulele’s design is not a copy of a period uke, but is based upon the best of several great 1920s instruments including Martin, Gretsch and Indiana’s own, Frank Bremerman.
Materials include everything needed to build and play the uke including, mahogany for backs, sides and neck, ebony for fingerboard and bridge, natural bone for nut and bridge saddle, Grover Champion Statute tuners and Aquila Nylgut strings.
Some students may have an opportunity to finish their instruments with Tru-oil, a quality, easy to apply oil finish.
The week culminates with a large public concert where students show off the skills that they have aquired during the week.

Absolutely one of the best experiences I've ever had. Pops is a fantastic teacher who is able to meet you at your ability level then inspire you to go further than you thought even possible. I will definitely be going again next year, good Lord willing and the creek don't rise.
