Get your summer off to a great start! If you've always wanted an instrument
you can carry with you wherever you go, the backpacker flute is your
dream come true! These hand-crafted easy to play flutes are specifically
designed to be compact, lightweight and virtually indestructible. To make it
even better, they are constructed with the "less musically experienced" in
mind - you literally cannot play a bad note! Julie will teach you how to play
this beautiful and fun instrument, and you'll be making music by the time
you leave. This year's flutes will be based on the minor pentatonic scale for
that haunting Native American sound, and are designed for improv rather
than traditional playing. The materials fee covers the cost of the flute, or you
can take the flute-making workshop and make your own (see the
Instrument Building section). Advance registration required.
