January 16-21, 2011
Monday - Saturday, 9am - 5:30pm, with Wednesday and Thursday half days
Tailored those who have played in performing bands. Covered:
* "The pro sound": Timing, tone, "believability"
* Creating interesting solos, tunes, individual style, gaining speed
* Practicing to clear technical hurdles
* Bringing out the best in each song, backup and lead
* Knowing the neck, creating licks
* All campers will receive a 1-on-1 session with Pete
* Performance skills — sounding your best on stage
* Week includes a class performance with Pete
Class limit: 15

Advanced camp qualifications are somewhat hard to define, but are based on experience and attitude. The camp is intended for serious players who have been members of bluegrass bands. A basic knowledge of Scruggs style and repertoire is expected, and it is assumed that all players have a sizable repertoire, having been in at least one performing band. Applicants are encouraged to submit a recording (homemade OK, but band CD preferable) that includes their playing, or at least a brief letter explaining their qualifications and interests.
