This Old-Time Fiddle Workshop and Jam with Billy Matthews will mark the 7th year that Billy's work-shop has been held.

Billy Matthews is known far and wide across this land for his musical skill and Old-Time fiddlin' ability. He has traveled extensively throughout the Midwest for over 30 years. Thoughtful, musical kinships maintained through all these many years have earned him a considerable amount of notoriety and recognition throughout Old-Time,traditional music circles. Billy has that Ozark up-bow/backbeat style of fiddlin' that is in the Midwest Dance Tradition. Billy has literally become the embodiment of his Scot-Irish ancestors,
continuing on their traditional approach to life, tried-and-true,"old school" doctrines of a self-reliant rural lifestyle. Billy continues to collect and play a huge repertoire of Old-Time fiddle tunes. He has
already made a sizable and significant contribution to our American
musical culture and there is No End in Sight.

This 7th Annual work-shop will be held the week-end of 5-6 February. As far as scheduling goes:

Friday night, 5 February -- JAM! Always a good jam to be had when Billy's in town. Wont be as large as Saturday night's session, but still well-worth the time to sit in. Should be some snacks available, but wouldn't hurt to bring something if you're so minded.

Saturday, 6 February -- Workshop all day, with a noon break for dinner. We'll be on our own for dinner, but there'll be the usual sumptuous pot-luck supper that night. Bring whatever you can, we'll feast, then jam until the wee hours!

Sunday morning, 7 February -- Review of Saturday's tunes, then we're on our own.

Work-shop rate is $50.00, IF you're staying at The Inn. Room rates and reservations at the Inn are available by e-mailing theinnatmountainview@gmail.com See also their web site www.theinnatmountainview.com or call 1-800-535-1301

For locals, and those who desire to stay somewhere other than The Inn, the work-shop rate is $65.00

There are a maximum of 20 available slots for the work-shop. Guests of The Inn have first dibs on the available slots. After that, it is a first-come, first-served basis.

So, for those staying at The Inn, call Mark and Jo Ann for your reservations.

For everyone else, the higher on the list you are, the better your chances of getting one of the slots. There are 8-10 locals who also take this work-shop every year.

These workshops always fill to capacity, and I expect 2010 to be no different, sour economic-times not-with-standing.

Hope to see ya' there!
