Biography

Got my start with the banjo about 1969. Played Clawhammer at first and after hearing Ralph Stanley for the first time I took a moderate hiatus into 3-Finger. While living in Virginia, I came back to my first love and haven't looked back since.

I've owned and played mostly Tubaphones and Whyte Laydies; I prefer and am currently playing the latter.

Lately, I've gotten back into early Texas music and have written a few songs connected with Texas history. I enjoy jamming with Old Time people, but have jammed with Bluegrassers in Fayetteville (2nd Saturdays) and have seemed to have convinced them that Clawhammer is not at all the enemy of standard Bluegrass songs. Swapping the lead with a 3-Finger picker is very enjoyable.

I have taught in the past but am not doing it anymore.
