I will be teaching a fiddle workshop, on November 8, in Lawrence, Kansas.
This will take place at the home of Marie Alice L'Heureux. (She has no
pets, so no allergy worries.)
I've been working on some ideas to help frustrated fiddlers -- if you have
things that bug you or you feel blocked in your playing, I think I can help!
We will learn some tunes, but also will spend a good amount of time with
music theory... Don't worry, it won't hurt a bit. The fiddle is a great
tool for theory and there are some easy "tricks" that I can show you.

The Kansas City Irish Museum and Cultural Center is located inside Union Station. Three hour free parking in the garage to the west of the station and come in the lower entrance. To get to the parking garage, go down the ramp west of the Station and turn right. There are two entrances to the garage.
The IMCC is just beyond the ticket booths on the right. We play mainly 'pure drop' Irish traditional tunes every third Sunday of the month. It is a great space and a great organization.

The Northeast Chapter of the Kansas Oldtime Fiddlers, Pickers, and Singers meets the second Sunday of every month at the Delaware Township Hall in Valley Falls, Kansas at 1:30pm. Anyone who plays an instrument or sings is welcome.
We allow three times on stage to non-members. If you you want to join our chapter it costs $10 (adults) and $1.00 (children) for the calendar year. However, you do not have to join to just come and listen to people playing and singing.
The people who perform are not professional musicians, they are just people who want to play to entertain people.

This can be a power session with up to 15 musicians sometimes. Very common to see 6-10. We play mainly 'pure drop' traditional irish tunes. ***The craic is mighty***
The Gaf has good food, drinks and a very supportive landlord.
There is always a good crowd of punters, including a bevy of lovely ladies who come for the tunes, drinks, dancing and who generally like to get out of line.
