Fife Mojo Fife and Drum Jams
Fife Mojo is a loose confederation of independent fifers and drummers that holds free monthly jams for any fifer and drummer who wants to play.
The Colonial Williamsburg F&D has supported Fife Mojo since its first jam in September 2006. The connection is informal (and much appreciated), and Fife Mojo is officially independent of any organized corps.
More information is posted at www.fifemojo.org. A free mailing list sends timely reminders of upcoming jams or other relevant info. To sign up, visit www.fifemojo.org and click on the "Fife Mojo JamList" link on the right side of the page.
Fife Mojo jams differ in some ways from traditional F&D jams:
1) You can bring music or notation if you want.
2) To avoid playing endless monthly repetitions of Harum Scarum and Downfall of Paris, there are (or were) Tunes of the Month. They are optional. They are usually announced on www.fifemojo.org.
3) Since a cadre of "regulars" has formed, we also spend some time playing new music, newly arranged music, or planning our debut performance (July 2008 in Connecticut).
