Downtown Mt Airy Cinema

A weekly bluegrass jam in the upper level of the "Mayberry" (Mt airy) Cinema theater. This occurs every Saturday from 10:00 am till 1:30 PM. All levels of players are welcome. This happens in the vetibule area of the upper level as the "Merry-Go-Round" live radio show is broadcast form WPAQ radio. The Merry-Go-ROund show is the 2nd longest running live radio show in the country! WPAQ is THE only full time bluegrass and old time 10,000 watt clear channel station in the country. It has been bradcasting the live bands show continually since 1948. The jam session has been going strong since the live radio show was moved form WPAQ studios to the restored downtown Cinema about 12 years ago.
Many professional players show up at the jam as well as raw beginners. A great atmosphere of fun and music!
