Irish Session weekly in the Runcible Spoon
July 2009 - We're in need of strong Irish players! We've temporarily suspended the session because we've lost a number of veteran players to retirement and relocation. We'll happily resume, when you come to play, tho! If you're in the area and want to have some tunes, please let us know!
The Bloomington Friday Irish Session has been going since the mid-'90's and welcomes players, singers, dancers, listeners and families!
We meet each Friday starting at 5:30pm and can play til the 11pm closing.
We're all acoustic and primarily Irish, but you'll also hear Scottish and Cape Breton tunes, and sometimes great music from other traditions. A number of our players also play American Old Time music, so we have a bit of that inflection in the music as well.
The Runcible Spoon is a Bloomington original (est.1976), providing cozy hideaway to enjoy a quality meal or a fine cup of coffee. Located just north of Kirkwood Avenue, the Spoon is in of the heart of downtown Bloomington.

Chef Matt O'Neill adds a dimension to the Spoon's tradition with international experience, nearly 20 years in Indiana, and significant community involvement.
