Old Town School - Weds. Noon Jam
We meet Wednesdays between noon and 2 pm. The core group is guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, harmonica -- sometimes a bass player, plus whoever stops by -- we invite people to the stage to play, sing, or request songs. We're visible as you walk in the front door, playing from the open back of the main stage. To see the jam on a slow Wednesday, see the short video project by a college student: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jePvxI71_Qo When there's an activity in the concert hall, we move to the end of the lobby.
In warm weather (ahhh!), we move to the courtyard behind the School.
The jammers often include teachers at the school, adult students coming for a lesson, little kids just learning the fiddle, visitors, traveling musicians, and others who enjoy singing and/or playing. Weve had travellers
from both coasts, the South, and Japan. If you find us through folkjam, please let me know! (And you'll also be finding the School's neat little Cafe, with Miki's tasty, homemade, inexpensive, healthy menu items).
We've been doing this weekly jam since May 2008 and look forward to continuing, usually including any day the School's 4544 N. Lincoln building is open, including breaks between class sessions. But if in doubt, send me an email: skiplandt@sbcglobal.net.
