Vancouver Folk Song Society Folk Nights
The Vancouver Folk Song Society, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, holds regular twice-monthly events from September to June of each year.
Events include songcircles, which are casual, supportive occasions to share songs. Each person in the circle may lead a song of their choice or pass. There is no pressure to perform or to perform perfectly. Songcircles may be open or have a suggested theme. Past themes have ranged from "Animals" to "The Criminal Classes." Singers of all levels are welcome to participate.
“Open stage” nights allow performers to present one or two songs in a slightly more formal atmosphere. Open-stage performers sign up at the beginning of the evening for a spot on the slate.
The society also hosts feature concerts spotlighting the talents of one performer or group. Featured performers are chosen from VFSS members and from the local musical community.
