Pi Day Celebration
On March 14th, Pi Day (3.14). Pi is the 14th letter of the Greek alphabet. It is the symbol used to designate the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. It is a baked good with one or two layers of pastry, with a filling of fruit or meat. It's just two little letters, one if you're Greek, three required to spell, if it's an after dinner treat.
We have 20 five minute long acts of mathematical or scientific daring do. Songs, video, multimedia, demonstrations, stand-up, interpretive dance, all of a humorous and entertaining bent.
We will have a pie contest. Pies will be judged, and two prizes given, in the categories of creativity and flavor. All entries will then be shared with the attendees in Pie-luck fashion. Bring a pie, get in free.
We will have a Pi recitation contest. Most places of Pi memorized wins.
Bid on the shoes Steve Wozniak wore on his Segway Polo Team. His Jersey number was 3.14 and the shoes have a greek Pi and say "Woz." We are working on scoring some other nerdmobilia to auction off.
The doors open at 6:30. The show starts at 7:00. We hope to be done by 9:00. Admission is $10.00 for adults and $3.14 for students. Bring a pie, get in free.
