Tax Night Party at the Post Office

The Alferd Packer Memorial String Band presents the 23rd annual Tax Night Party in the Main Post Office, at 7th and Vermont, in Lawrence, Kansas. Over the years this has become a revered community event, covered by local media as well as National Public Radio, The Wall Street Journal, and CBS Sunday Morning. In the early years this was a late night event, ending when the Post Office closed at Midnight. With new management and budget cutbacks the Post Office now closes at 5:30 on the 15th. This year's Party will run from 5:00 to 8:00. At 5:25 the audience forms a gauntlet to cheer the last tax filers, while the band plays the William Tell Overture. We encourage jammers to join us in playing the William Tell Overture.
