Alan Morrisroe will be in concert, accompanied by Iris Nevins, with a session to follow at IAANJ, on Saturday June 7th at 8:00PM. Alan is a true missing link to the old style melodeon and accordion players, and has been compared to the legendary Peter J. Conlon, who was a contemporary of Michael Coleman and James Morrison in NYC last century. He has many rare and nearly extinct tunes.

Alan collected most of his tunes from the area he grew up in, Swinford, Co. Mayo, Ireland, most of these he collected from the older people in the village. We will have a session as usual after the concert. We will also be recording for his upcoming CD, and hope to catch part of the session for use on it, so please come prepared to play and maybe be on the CD!

If you would like a preview of Alan we have a youtube up from last year: http://youtube.com/watch?v=JzNsDOHa90A
He is a very captivating entertainer, a great musician, and a great historian as well, full of wonderful stories. Try not to miss this one, even if you have not heard of him, he is well worth it, it will be a wild musical time! He is a whirlwind, a truly inspired player. He is pretty new on the scene but gathers more and more of a following wherever he goes.

Alan will also hold a workshop in old style melodeon & accordion tunes and techniques that afternoon from 4:30 - 6:00 for $35. pre-registration is necessary.

Tickets are $20 or $15 for IAANJ members, which includes free refreshments and parking. IAANJ is located at 352 Richard Mine Rd., Rockaway Tnsp. NJ (Mapquest thinks it is in Wharton) and directions can be found at www.iaanj.com . If you wish to make reservations or order tickets, please do not email or call IAANJ but rather email irisnevins@verizon.net
