Jam-nic
July 13, 2008 will be our second Jam-nic of the summer. It is a jam session where musicians sign up for a turn at center stage name their song and key and other musicians play along. There is also a sign up list where members of the audience request sing-a-longs. Books with songs are provided for the audience and books with words and chords are provided for musicians who would like them. The music is proceeded by a picnic (take your own brat etc. we will have grills going) and mid way through the evening is a dessert social (a dessert pot-luck take some dessert to put out to share).
So it is a jam and a picnic, hence the name Jam-nic.
It is unplugged accoustical and the music is mostly bluegrass, folk, Christian,60's classic rock.
It is held at the log cabin shelter of Hagar Park in Jenison, Michigan near Grand Rapids. Last time we had about 15 musicians and about 75 to 100 in the audience. We had great weather and a great time. People who just happen to be in the park were welcome to drop in and did.
