Open folk jam (dulcimers and more)
This rotating (West Michigan) jam series was established by Linda Foley, a hammered dulcimer instructor in Montague. Participants tend to be her students and others who've heard about it, and the repertoire tends to be traditional tunes commonly heard at square and contra dances ("Evart-type" music). Many use the Ruffwater Fakebook, Portland Collection, and The Waltz Books for charts (we'll share). There are always beginner players, and tape recorders abound. No director, open seating, play whater you want: melody, harmony, oompah.
Expect plenty of hammered dulcimers; we get an occasional (and could use more) guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, harmonica, ukelele...and I'll bring my euphonium and sousaphone. (Members of the Yahoo tuba & euphonium list have been invited.)
Breathe easy: This venue is smoke-free. No "cover" (it's a church!).
