Dear Christmas Carol Jammers,
Much of this notice is the same as the one I sent out two weeks ago. The changes are: addresses and proper names of the playing venues, and editing of the play list to dovetail with the song books. Also, most people that I have talked to on the street didn't get the last email. So, I am trying again. Please send me a reply if you can come. That way I will know if we have a quorum coming or if I need to get out and twist arms. Thanks
On December 7th we will gather, under the Americana Music Academy banner, and apply our fiddling skills to jamming on the traditional Christmas Carols. We will meet at the Java Break, at the corner of 7th and New Hampshire, in Lawrence, Kansas at 5:30. We will play on the 6:00 News at Free State TV Studio, across the intersection, then we will play at the Lawrence Public Library and then at The Eldridge House. For the last few years, mild weather has allowed us to finish up by playing on Massachusetts Street for a while at the end.
We will need novice fiddlers to play a good strong melody and advanced fiddlers to add harmony and improvisations. Viola, cello and bass players will be warmly welcomed. We need guitar, mandolin and banjo players to hold everything together. We have even had a harmonica player in the past. And, we need a Melodious Choir for all these musicians to accompany. If you are not ready to play, or if the weather is too harsh for your treasured instrument, or if singing is just your thing, please join the Choir. We will provide Carol Books and Santa hats. Sleigh bells are welcome, but please, no drums.
Rehearsal would be nice but is time impractical. We will run through the two tunes that we will play on TV, and jam on as many others as time allows, between 5:30 and 5:50 at the Java Break. If your real job keeps you from joining us on time, join us when you can.

Below is a list of Christmas tunes that we will be playing and keys that seem to work. We will play Jingle Bells in D and Joy to the World in D on TV. The underlined tunes can be found at the website below. Pick a tune and then click on “Sheet Music for Guitar, Melody and Easy Chords.” There are many helpful things at this site. It can print out all the parts, it can sing you the melody, but watch the keys. Only the Guitar music is in the keys noted below. Please learn these tunes and join in.
