Pickin in the Park
Well, polish up and pack up your lawn chairs because it is official: Saturday, June 21st, 2008 is the date! Put it on your calendar because it will be what we hope becomes THE 1ST ANNUAL PICKIN IN THE PARK!
Of course this is in the "Old" Moweaqua Park in Moweaqua. And for all out of towners, this is just two blocks east of our 'onliest 'gas station in town. So if you can find that, you will find us!!
Right now, the plans are to start around 1:00 in the afternoon and have mini jam sessions going on in various places in the park. We will set straw bales around (and some chairs). Anyone that wants to play is welcome to start a jam. If you have ever been to an event like this it is really entertaining.
Around 4 we will serve FREE ham and beans cooked in a big kettle over an open fire (like we do at our rendezvous). Soda will be available also.
6:00 will see the show begin on stage in the big pavilion. This will be pre-scheduled with individuals that let me know in advance that they want to play. So I guess it isn't really an "open mic" so to say. It will end whenever you want to go home, (or around 10 pm) whichever comes first.
BUT, EVERYONE is welcome to play anytime in the jam circles that we hope will be going on all day.
