Oldtimey Hootenanny in Evansville
Howdy,
We're trying to start up an old timey session in Evansville, IN. We have a location and we'd like to meet at least once a month, or twice a month if possible.
Right now we're looking for participants, discussing the format and all that good stuff.
These sessions would be for old timey music and folk songs exclusively. No Bluegrass or Irish need apply. Seriously, we might consider an Irish tune if we slowed it up a bit.
We are more interested in working up good arrangements of fiddle tunes than in showing of our musical skills.
Remember the adage: "In Bluegrass, the tune is used to showcase the musician's virtuosity, in old timey music the musician's virtuosity is used to show off the tune."
