Nordic Jam is an open acoustic Scandinavian music jam session in Northfield, Minnesota.

Founded in September 2002, Nordic Jam plays music from the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden) and their immigrant communities in North America. Most of our tunes are dance music: waltz, polka, schottische, polska, tango, etc. We socialize and play in a friendly, supportive non-smoking environment. Participants, dancers and listeners at all ages and levels of experience are always welcome. Sometimes special guests from the Nordic countries stop in to play with us.

People learn the music in different ways. We play mostly by ear, the same way they do "over there". We also have resources (sheet music, recordings) that help folks learn the tunes. Some of our members have spent years learning the music/culture and have traveled to Scandinavia. We love to share! Come and join us!

Our motto? "If we're not careful, we just might have fun..."
