Pocono Bluegrass and Folk Society Shindig

The Pocono Bluegrass and Folk Society invites acoustic music lovers to its Shindigs of the 2009-2010 season of indoor bluegrass concerts, or shindigs, at the Elks Lodge in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. “This is our tenth year of hosting these shindigs so I guess you could say they’ve caught on.” said Neil Morris, President of the organization. “This year is a celebration for all those bands, pickers and listeners and volunteers who made this happen. Thank you very much!” The Bluegrass Society’s shindigs provide a venue for the quality local and new bands to perform in, comfortable accommodations where the audience can enjoy the music and just as important for the continuation of this music, a place for anyone who owns a guitar, mandolin, banjo or whatever, to come and “pick” with likeminded people. There are plenty or rooms throughout the building for the informal sessions where many a beginner can pick up “licks”, chords and tunes from other players. That’s this Sunday Oct 4th, admission is only $7.00, $6.00 for members and $5.00 with a college ID.
