This jam is geared for beginners or intermediate level who are interested in playing old time music with others. There is an emphasis on learning, sharing and playing a little bit slower than other similar jams. But sometimes we kick it up a notch or two. Bringing a snack or beverage to share has never been discouraged.

Informal Old Time Music Jam, named for founders Dave and Diane Poe. Players welcome. Meets 2nd Tuesday, 7:30 p.m ( but not June 9, 2009) and Last Sunday of each month, except for the last Sundays of July and August (due to conflict w/music festivals).
We generally sit in a circle and take turns calling tunes to play.
Jam is at the Washington, VA Fire Hall, which is owned by Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue, a volunteer organization. We typically have 8 - 12 players showing up to play claw hammer banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin and hammered dulcimer
