Jersey Jam 36 -- The Third Birthday Bash!
The Jersey Jam Toddles on at Three Years Old!
Jersey Jam 36, Saturday, November 22nd, 2008 at my house in central NJ.
10am - lunchtime (typically 3 or 4 hours) with our now legendary pizza finale'.
It's NOT a formal open event in a public venue, it's just me inviting some folks to my home, as a way of making new musical friends. We have a small group of regulars and new folks stopping by from time to time. Most of us play guitar, though other acoustic instruments are welcome. We're usually willing to try all styles of popular music, and while we still consider ourselves beginners and want the jam to be beginner friendly, we're happy to have more experienced players sit in and inspire us.
This is an informal, beginners-level, casual get-together, hanging around in the basement making music, and we chip in for pizza at the end.
No pressure, and ABSOLUTELY NO "I'm not good enough" excuses.
You just need an instrument and a song in your heart. And a music stand is
helpful.
This is our 3rd anniversary jam, and I have it on good authority that there will be cake involved....

Wow! A near-record full house and cake and presents and songs galore!
Thanks to everyone that came and a special thanks to Frank and his wife for the yummy cake and to Wayne for the really cool song books!
(BTW, Wayne, I think you left an orange carry bag here?)
Do let me know soon what Saturdays in Dec are good or bad for anyone.
We might have #37 pretty soon to avoid holiday conflicts.
Thanks again for making it real party!

and your family for hosting the jam. It was great fun jamming and having the pizza lunch. Wayne, thanks again for making a gift of the Nazfest songbook. It is sincerely appreciated and will be put to good use both at the jams and right here at home. It was great spending time with you all and I look forward to the next jam. Really looking forward to seeing the group photos also. I did let my wife know how appreciative you all were and how much you all enjoyed the cake. Andy, as of now, my December Saturdays are all open, so count me in on whichever date works for the group. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your loved ones.
Best regards...Frank

Damn, where ARE my manners?
Andy, thanks again to you and yours for hosting,
Frank, make sure your wife knows how much we enjoyed the cake,
Wayne, the music books are fantastic! Can't thank you enough.
Bonnie, it was GREAT seeing you again, let's try and make it again before JJ48 !!!! Glad you brought your brother. Tom, is was great to meet you. Hopefully we inspired you, rather than scaring you off.
Stan, some of those lead fills you were doing were great, where the hell did THEY come from?
The only day that doesn't work for me next month is the 20th

Wow, November got away from me pretty quickly, and here come JJ36 in just a few days.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all and I hope those that are on the fence for various reasons can make it after all.
Please make some song suggestions, and better yet, bring some copies of chord sheets!
For those of you that can't make it, be sure to suggest some dates for December when maybe you can. That month is almost here, too, and we don't want to collide with the holidays.
See you Saturday!

The week before last I got bit by the layoff bug. To make matters worse, my wife was laid off in early October, so music is sorta on the back burner for me right now. I'll see if I can still make the jam, but it doesn't look good at the moment. Maybe next month if things settle down a bit.
