Jersey Jam 26!
Jersey Jam 26, Saturday, January 19th, 2008 at my house in central NJ.
10am - lunchtime (typically 3 or 4 hours) with our now legendary pizza finale'.
It's NOT a formal open event in a public venue, it's just me inviting some folks to my home, as a way of making new musical friends. We have a small group of regulars and new folks stopping by from time to time. Most of us play guitar, though other acoustic instruments are welcome. We're usually willing to try all styles of popular music, and while still consider ourselves beginners and want the jam to be beginner friendly, we're happy to have more experienced players sit in and inspire us.
This is an informal, beginners-level, casual get-together, hanging around in the basement making music.
No pressure, and ABSOLUTELY NO "I'm not good enough" excuses.
You just need an instrument and a song in your heart. And a music stand is helpful.
PLEASE suggest some songs or themes so we can print out chord charts in advance!
This is the first time the JJ has been listed 'publicly' here on folkjam, so I'm curious to see how it looks on the site.
If you're interested, join the 'Jersey Jam' group here on folkjam.org and let me know!

Hey there,
Every now and then I send a message using the site's 'email to all members'
feature, like the "did you get this" message that I sent today.
That message doesn't appear on the site, it's just emailed to everyone from
there.
Any post that is made to the forum, or as a comment to an event, like Sean
did for his message, appears on the site, either in the forum, or on the
event listing (that can get confusing, I guess) and IF you have your
preferences set to send you emails (which is the default) then the site will
also email you the message and the link to the original.
Which message can't you find?

Hey Andy, I got the message that was emailed to me through the folk jam site, but I can't seem to find it when I GO to the site, so if Stan, or anyone else doesn't have the site set up to retrieve messages automatically, they may not have seen the confirmation of the 19th.

hey andy
this group sounds like a good one for someone like me. i've been playing mandolin about 2 years now. took lessons for a bit but mostly self taught. worked through the del grosso intro to mandolin book so i know some basics. don't have much of a repertoire memorized but i do pretty well at keeping time. looking forward to joining the jam.
what tunes are you all working on?
i'm currently working on blackberry blossom and i'm going to start looking at fireball mail as these are tracks that the slow jam group at www.newjerseybluegrass.org are working on about now.
looking forward to meeting up!

Hi Sean,
Welcome to the group.
While we're not a BG or OT jam, per se, I often drag us in that direction, and if you are actually willing to try some breaks and some lead for those songs, that would be great...it'll give us a break from singing.
We also venture into pop, alternative, blues and whatever other styles we thing we can manage, and between the bunch of us all trying it, we can get through most things without long stretches of dead silence.
If you can, bring a few copies of the sons you'd like to do, lyrics and chords at least.
