Saturday Jam
|
Just a reminder that there is no jam this Saturday, June 21. We are off for the summer to enjoy the festivals. It was good to see many of you at the Unfest in Hastings last weekend! As one member said by late Saturday night, "I'm hammered out!" The damp weather Friday night couldn't dampen the spirits of those who jammed under the lights until midnight. What a great time we all had. Gail Submitted by Gail Perna on Tue, 2008/06/17 - 6:46am

Hi Paula,
Good to see you guys at Unfest. Sorry we didn't get a chance to chat... Anyway, where to find the tunes:
[1]
http://www.folkjam.org/group/us/michigan/zeeland/west-michigan-dulcimer-...
[2] http://www.folkjam.org/g/west-michigan-dulcimer-club/files
The first URL takes you to the WMDC, and from there you can click on "Files." Or you can go directly to "Files" with the second URL (You do have to log in as a member of WMDC before you can get to the files.)
Anyway, once you get to "Files," you get a list of more links for sheet music and mp3 files that are labeled "Basic", "Extras", and "Master." Start clicking on those, and a list of tune titles drops down for you to click on for the tunes of your choice. (There is a LOT there.)
There are also a bunch of sheet music and mp3 files when you go to Rockford City Ramblers at Folkjam.org. A fair number of people are members of both groups.
A surprising number of tunes can also be found in Fiddlers' Fakebook, one of my favorite references, and I have often found that I accidentally find one there AFTER I've looked for it in a bunch of other resources.
John added that Jim McKinney started a number of tunes that he hadn't heard before, and I thought you might want to check their website at http://www.goldengriffonstringtet.com/recordings.htm if you're ever in the market for some really nice CD's.
See you at Evart? Have fun,
Nancy Wells
