Well, the March edition of the Tucson Old Time Music Circle has come and gone.

This month there were 4 or 5 banjo pickers (some with other instruments), a guitar player, an autoharpist, a concertina player, a djembe, and a couple of fiddlers. One of the banjos was a tenor, played with a pick and gusto by a first-time visitor. We played a lot of the tunes on our list, plus several Carter family songs and some Cowboy songs, courtesy of the Tenor player.

I only got one side of a 90 minute cassette recorded, and have posted most of the pertinent music here:

Tucson Old Time Music Circle - March

Some requests for tunes for next month included:

"Chinese Breakdown" - (Key of D) - Sometimes known for it's association with the Looney Tunes Cartoons.

"Red Wing" - (Key of G) - We actually did this one, but got carried away with the Labor Union lyrics.

"Spotted Pony" - (Key of D).

"Fortune" - (Key of D).

If anybody has any other suggestions/requests, please post them here and I will add them to the list.

Next Circle is the 27th of April.

The Horney Ewe (or "Hornio") (Key of A)

Nope, it's not a misspelling. This is the first (and only, so far) tune that Mary Jane taught me on the fiddle. Hopefully she'll be able to make it to the April circle. Here's an MP3 of the tune:

OK - I'll add it, but

OK - I'll add it, but remember, if you suggest it, you gotta be able to lead it off at the next Circle!
