Local sessions.

Where can I find some local Irish music sessions to listen to and maybe participate. I am a self taught whistle player with about a dozen tunes under my belt but have never played music with other people. I don't know if I can play up to speed after listening to some of my favorite artists they play a pretty fast tempo.
