I'd also like to give Traffic's version of "John Barleycorn Must Die" in both 1st and 7th positions a try. I think that would sound cool with multiple guitars. If I recall correctly, we attempted this over a year ago back when Dom was a regular, but never really gave it a serious attempt. The 7th position chords are a bit cramped, but it sounds great.
Here are the chords for both positions. If the format is screwed up here, it should be OK in your email (hopefully)
Not sure about you guys, but I find myself looking less and less at WHERE the chord changes are. I still need to refresh myself now and then, but I can usually hear where the changes are. In this case they sound more complicated than they are.

By the way, the owners of the site are very open to comments and suggestions. They are eager to make the site user friendly, so please email them (or me, and I'll pass it on) with any concerns on finding you ways around or specific problems or suggestions and I wouldn't be surprised if they make changes in the near future.
The forum doesn't seem to work like other forums. I was looking for the thread referencing Father's Day weekend, and couldn't find it. Is this because there are two types of group messages -- one that appears in the forum, and one that just goes out to the group without being saved?
Anyway, my appearance tomorrow was dependent on my being able to leave work by 3pm today to run errands. However it's now 7:30 and I'm still at work. Sorry to back out again, but there are some things that I have to do, and I can only do them tomorrow morning. When I attend the jam I leave town at 8am and get home after 4 -- impossible to go to the bank, post office, barber, etc. And they're all closed on Sunday. I was really looking forward to this one. It looks like there's already a good variety of music on the setlist.
Just out of curiosity, would it ever be possible to hold a jam on a Sunday? Then I could run all my errands the day before. Also, I'd be happy to host a jam in Philadelphia someday. A friend of mine has some studio space in West Philly that we can use. I have to confess that the $40 in gas and tolls is becoming harder for me to swallow, even on a monthly basis. These are just ideas. I know the Jersey Jam is a tradition that goes way back before my involvement. Anyway, I hope you all have a good time tomorrow.

Andy is right, we do listen and incorporate as much as we have time to do. I'm bummed that you are having trouble getting around the site, but also very happy that you stick with us as we grow and refine what we've got in place.
There is a way for Andy, as the group owner, to send out a message that does not end up in the group forum at all. I'm this close (holds fingers right next to eachother) to simply disabling that "email to all group members" functionality that the admin has.
But I don't know if Andy is using that or not. It strikes me that perhaps the difference between comments on event posts and forum topics in groups - both of which get mailed out - is the confusion here. What were you looking for that was hard to find? Can you send me the link?
I've been very slow with changes in the past few months - just going through a stint where my family needs me more and I cannot be up until late hours coding. Same with Shawn, but for different job related reasons. We are still busy working away, but our rate of progress is slowed.
I'm happy that you are using the site to coordinate the Jersey Jam, and do hope to drop in to join you eventually on a trip back to visit parents.
If you are willing, give me links to things that you were looking for that were lost or really hard to find. A description of where you looked would be helpful, but just do what you are willing to put some time into.
I have not forgotten that I said I'd get better formatting for posts that contain lyrics and chords. I said that just about when my wife's back began to act up in new ways, and I've simply not managed the time. I'll get it done!

I don't use the email feature for any jam-related stuff. I'm certain that the posts that are hard for everyone to find are the ones attached to the event itself, as opposed to a forum topic post.
I'm not sure how to find an event by navigating the group, only by using the map, the calendar or an existing email link.
And I don't know anyway to find a PREVIOUS event or it's attached posts, other than using an existing email link.
I suspect that's the main source of confusion. I can probably mitigate it by not attaching discussions to the event at all, but it is disorienting, since when you'r posting a reply, it's not clear what the difference is.
Then I think I have an idea that will help. I've treated events and forum posts in a group as behaving differently - but in a sense they are really the same thing when it comes to the comment thread below them. If the main page of the group were primarily a chronological list of 'topics' in the group, smoothly blending events and forum posts, would that simplify things?

Over the last few days I've made a bunch of invisible changes to groups on folkjam in preparation for making some of the visual changes Andy and others in your group have recommended.
If you see bad behavior here as you use your group, please do notify me through a site private message.
Now I'm starting in on the actual layout changes with an aim of making the group forum a little simpler.
As a side note, I'm looking to see if I can drop in on your jam on the 12th. The timing looks to be against me as I'll wake up in Mahwah but need to be in Milford, PA by 1pm. Mahwah to Fords, play music, then back to Mahwah and then on to Milford probably won't fly. But I'm trying to make the case with my wife. :)

That's what bugs in software are for - to reveal the hidden changes.
Some visible changes just went up a few moments ago.
Posts for a jam date and forum topics are now treated identically in the forum. Active ones will bubble up to the top of the list. I've cleaned up a little, removing the 'created' column. Gone too is the 'new members' display at the bottom of the group's front page. I figured I'd remove it to see if anybody complained while I was working to simplify the group home pages.
Shoot me feedback on what works and does not work via private messages on the site.
Placing local groups on the front page is bound up in other work I'm doing to rework how the site's front page looks. I think that will help you find your group when you visit the site, reducing or eliminating the need to save off old email notifications of forum posts just to get back into the Jersey Jam group forum.
As things have panned out my rare opportunity to drop in on the JJ won't happen tomorrow. Happy picking - perhaps my next trip through will also coincide with one of your session dates.
