Reporting abuse

As a web site grows there are many milestones it goes through. We've recently hit the milestone where we are busy enough to attract spammers. In our first fifteen months there were no more than three accounts created to spew crud on the site. In the past month I've cleaned out at least one a day.

If you see something inappropriate on the site please send me a private message so that I can take care of it. We do a good job of defending against automated attacks, but there is always room for somebody with time on their hands to put inappropriate messages on a community site.

About two hours ago somebody joined up and began to send private messages to a large group of folks. We protect against this by limiting the number of private messages that can be sent in rapid succession, so not much damage was done. I've blocked that user and deleted the handful of the private messages they created.

My apologies to the users who received private message notifications and came to find nothing in their inbox. None of your contact details were revealed to the person who did this, which is a layer of protection for you that we built on purpose.

We work hard behind the scenes every day to keep the content on our site consistent with the mission of the site, but sometimes folks will slip through to spray a little graffiti.

Thanks for understanding, and please do report anything to us that is unwelcome.
