One time scheduling change in a jam

A jam for which I manage the folkjam info is (probably) making a one-time date change, from the 1st Thursday to the 2nd Thursday, because the venue will be busy with another event.

What is the best/easiest/slickest way to handle this on folkjam? The group has their own web site, where I suppose the person in charge of that will make a change.

Odd behavior in exception

In order to get the April 5, 2007 session to be excepted, I had to add it as April 4, 2007. If I added it as the 5th, it would show up as the 6th, and the 5th would still be listed as the next session.

I'm moving on to making a single-session jam for the 12th.

I'll cycle that up for repair too

Given the time of your session (7pm in a GMT-5 time zone) I am guessing that somewhere a line of code is failing to take the GMT offset into account.

I'll get that fixed in the next few weeks.

Good news, and 'scott is a slacker' news

You can use the exception editor on recurring jams to remove a generated date from the series. The exception editor is hiding in the "Configure optional repeat exception dates" expandable area on the jam edit form. Add in the date where you do not want the session to happen, and it will be removed from the sequence.

As for adding in a special off-series date...ah. Well, I've been busy you see. That feature remains on my plate to do, but groups were where I spent what little time I've got to code on folkjam with a newborn at home. The solution I recommend while you wait for me to be less of a slacker is to except out the date from the series, then add a single session jam for that one off-series date. This is not as clean as I want, but it works.

You are the second person to ask in as many weeks. It may be time to get this feature done.

Shawn - no posting on this thread for you as I know where you will take it.

No, I don't think that

No, I don't think that "Scott is a slacker." And I say that as a professional slacker.

I had not noticed the "exception editor" and will look it up. I have not yet checked my mail to see if the change in dates is offically happening.

I did a little work on this last night

Erich,

Instead of shutting down and going to sleep I remained up a little too last last night playing with this. There is a bug in the exception editor that makes it so that you can only add one exception per 'edit' session. You need to enter the exception date, click "Add exception", see nothing obvious happen, then submit the jam. When you open it for editing again your exception appears in the list.

I've got to see if I can find or create a fix to that bug before I add the 'additions' feature.

If I'm not a slacker, I'm a procrastinator on some of the changes for the site. With just a few hours a week for each of us to work on the site progress is slow.

Scott
