If you look up for just a moment when browsing the site you will notice that our URLs now carry meaningful information rather than node/12345. Your bookmarks will all continue to work as will any links you placed in email, web pages or forums.

A question for you: every post to the site does still have a www.folkjam.org/node/12345 style URL (where 12345 is some number). Do you find that short form URL valuable and would you like us to expose it somewhere on the display for cut-and-paste?

Your user account (and jam profile) address is now meaningful too. Where before I was www.folkjam.org/user/2, now my user page is www.folkjam.org/user/scott.mclewin.

I like it. Will it be

I like it. Will it be confused by duplicate names of jam sessions? If you go to:

http://www.folkjam.org/?start=Monticello,IL

You will see two jams called "Steeple Gallery Coffee House Bluegrass Jam" one on Saturday and t'other on Sunday. I don't know for sure that this is not an error, but if it is correct then we will certainly need the option of numbers. I bet there are a few jams just titled "Bluegrass Jam" already in the database.

Duplicates names are

Duplicates names are automatically differentiated with a number on the end, which is what happened with the Steeple Gallery Coffee House events.

There are a number of events called "Bluegrass Jam", but they tend to be in different cities. We include the city in the URL.

Either way we have it covered - so far. :)
