Find a jam or start one!

Hi Justin,
Here's to finding a jam session in Lincoln, NE. Ask around among your friends who play. If there's no jam up and running, get ready to start one. Let folks know that all skill levels can participate. It may take off like wildfire or it may take a while. Let it grow at its own rate.

Find a spot: Back of a garage, an old country store, the local feed-n-seed store, a music store, the train depot, the town square, or even at your home or someone else's home.

Pick a day/time: Pick a day and time and try to hold to that time frame each week/month.

Advertise: Talk it up, call/e-mail your friends, take a flyer around to music stores, grocery stores, the chamber of commerce, and wherever else you can find to get the word out. We've done it in Collierville, TN, and the Collierville, TN, Historic Town Square Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Jam is about to begin its 8th season. Merchants on or near the square now want to stay open later on Friday evenings, because of the many folks who are at the square to enjoy the jammin'. It's good for business and good for the music. Now, get busy and good luck!

Pick away!
Betty

A new approach for this question

Justin,

In the past weeks we've released some new functionality on the site that you might find useful. We've added groups that are designed with musicians in mind.

Posts like this in a forum are good, but we felt that it made more sense to add a marker to a map when you are looking for others to play with or get a regular jam going.

I recommend you create a group on the site and associate it with Lincoln. If the group is in our public directory, then a groups pin will appear on the local map for Lincoln, making it easy for other musicians near you to see that you are local and looking to connect with them.

Scott
