5th Annual Music Along The River Festival
Ashtabula County Metroparks is pleased to announce the 5th Annual Music Along The River Festival. The event will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Harpersfield Covered Bridge Metropark. The park is located one mile south of Interstate 90 and S. R. 534 (Geneva Exit 218) or (Geneva on the Lake Exit 218). Note: in previous years, this was a two-day event (Saturday and Sunday, with camping on Saturday night), but this year it will be a one-day event with no camping.
The festival is patterned after the Music in The Valley Festival held at Hale Farm in Bath, Ohio. The Grand River is the only Ohio river designated both Wild and Scenic, and the area is one of the most beautiful places in Ohio.
Music Along the River will be held on both the north and south banks of the Grand River. The Metro Park has the oldest longest covered bridge in Ashtabula County; built in the late 1860s and restored to its current beauty in the early 1990s it is over 225 feet long. You may drive over the covered bridge; however, it is one lane only so you will have to take turns crossing it. There is also a pedestrian walkway on the outside.
Music Along the River is free to everyone; just bring your acoustic instruments and lawn chairs, and pack a picnic lunch. Hay bales will be provided. Come out to play with others or by yourself to listen and enjoy this beautiful Metropark and music. Ashtabula County Metroparks ask that all musicians who come to play register before or at the event.
After the festival is over is over, have dinner at one of the many wineries in the area or visit the Geneva on the Lake Resort, only minutes from the Metropark.
