ODPC Funfest

Large acoustic music festival sponsored each July by the Original Dulcimer Players Club, at the Osceola County Fairground in Evart, MI. Lots of jamming, hundreds of workshops, concerts. Admission is $3.00 per person. Camping on the fairground is additional; $15/night.

Jamming begins at least a week before the festival officially opens; during this period, the festival's restrictions on instruments (no horns or keyed or valved wind instruments) are not in force. During the festival itself, pets must be entirely confined to the campsite.

Fairground rules include: no alcoholic beverages and no drugs -- period.

There are no reservations for campsites, except by paying (in advance)camping fees through the end of the festival. (If you leave by Friday night, you can get a refund for the last day or days.) There is no registration for workshops; you just show up.

From at least a week before the festival starts, you are likely to find jams large or small, organized or informal, all over the fairground. During the festival itself, there are jams everywhere, especially in the evening. (Do not expect things to quiet down for most of the night, either.)
