Unfortunately the Rochester Country Fair (and the Rochester Fiddle Contest)
has been POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE due to a land use issue.

Some Fiddle Contest rules, classes, and prizes changed for 2010:
Open to all acoustic fiddle/violin family instruments.
New Classes: Novice, Youth, Open, and Senior.
Registration fee: $10 for Novice and Youth, $15 for Senior and Open.
Contestants may only enter one Class.
All contestants will have 8 minutes to play 2 or 3 tunes:
a warm-up (optional, not judged), a tune of choice (not a waltz), and a waltz.
No medleys, double-shuffling, or trick fiddling or written music permitted.

Prizes (1st - 5th place):
Novice: ribbons only - will play first and be given prizes immediately after their class;
Youth (under 18), and Senior (over 55) classes: ribbons and 1st $75, 2nd $50, 3rd $25;
Open (frequent winners may be required to join): ribbons and 1st $150, 2nd $100, 3rd $75, 4th $50, 5th $25.

Registration: by mail, or 11 am - 12:30 pm. Contest starts at 1 pm

DIRECTIONS (with estimated total travel time)*:
1 hour from Boston (I-93 S exit 4, to MA-24 S exit 14A, to I-495 S exit 1 to I-195 W)
1 hour from I-495 & I-90 (I-495 S exit 1 to I-195 W),
50 min from Providence (I-195 E)
25 minutes from the Cape Cod Bridges (US 6 W and/or MA-25 E exit 1, to I-195 W).
THEN:
I-195 exit 20, MA-105 N (about 3 miles)

*Please double-check your chosen route and allow for unexpected delays,
this is a good faith attempt, presuming normal conditions.

[10 am - Noon "Hillbilly Days" Parade will temporarily close some roads around Fair]
