Kansas State Fiddling and Picking Championships
The Kansas State Fiddling and Picking Championships will be celebrating their 28th year in 2008. Some of the best musicians from around the state will gather in order to celebrate traditional acoustic music.
The two-day event will be held on August 23th and 24th at South Park, in Lawrence, Kansas. Admission to all events in free; there is a $5 entry fee for contestants. Pre-registration for contests can be done at www.kansasfiddlingandpicking.org. Registration for entering competitions is 20-minutes before each contest.
The contests are open to musicians of all ages in Fiddle, Youth Division Fiddle, Flatpick Guitar, Fingerpick Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo, Mountain Dulcimer, Hammered Dulcimer, Fiddle, Ensemble Folk Singing, and Miscellaneous Acoustic Instruments.
Saturday workshops all day, with an ice cream social and jam session Saturday night. State championships in fiddle, flatpick guitar, banjo, mandolin, ensemble folk singing, and misc. instrument begin at noon Sunday.
