Bill Monroe Bluegrass Hall of Fame & Uncle Pen Days Festival
The 32nd Annual Bluegrass Hall of Fame & Uncle Pen Days Festival will be held September 20-23, 2006. The event takes place in Bean Blossom at the historical Bill Monroe Memorial Music Park & Campground in Brown County, Indiana. The four-day event includes a stellar line-up of over 30 bluegrass bands, instrument and vocal workshops, jam sessions, camping, food, vendors, flea market and fellowship. Tickets can be purchased at www.beanblossom.com.
The legendary Bill Monroe was greatly influenced by the great fiddle playing of his uncle Pendleton Vandiver. He was so moved by his uncle's music that he played tribute to him in the song Uncle Pen, which went to #1 in the country music charts. He later created The Bill Monroe Bluegrass Hall of Fame & Country Star Museum to honor those he felt had made a substantial contribution to bluegrass music. J.D. Crowe has been chosen as this year's inductee into the Bill Monroe Bluegrass Hall of Fame and will be honored on Saturday, September 23, 2006.
