This can be a power session with up to 15 musicians sometimes. Very common to see 6-10. We play mainly 'pure drop' traditional irish tunes. ***The craic is mighty***
The Gaf has good food, drinks and a very supportive landlord.
There is always a good crowd of punters, including a bevy of lovely ladies who come for the tunes, drinks, dancing and who generally like to get out of line.

We do potluck at 6:00 and then jam until 10:00. We play fiddle tunes in the old time style, on fiddles, banjos, mandolins, etc. all acoustic.
Our meetings consist of playing ukes, yapping about ukes, and learning about ukes. At each of our gatherings, members are encouraged to print out and bring a new tune. We always try and have some for the novice as well as the more intermediate (should I say advanced?) musicians. There are no egos and everyone is there because they love ukuleles and ukulele music.

The Kansas City Irish Center is located inside Union Station. Parking is free for musicians in the parking garage just west of the station thanks to the Irish Museum.
The Irish Center is on the lower level of the station just at the bottom of the escalators. We play mainly 'pure drop' Irish traditional tunes every third Sunday of the month. Occasionally we play for the Driscoll Irish Dancers - check the Irish Center website for dates: http://www.irishmuseum.org/
It is a great space and a great organization.

Intimidated in a jam? Come to this one where we will help beginners learn to play along in a jam. The songs will be kept simple and taught so you can play along. Bring a few songs to share. Experienced jammers are also welcome to help teach beginners learn to jam.
