Saturday August 01, 2009
Start: 1 Aug 2009 10:00 am
End: 1 Aug 2009 12:00 pm

This is a monthly jam session on the first Saturday of each month. We play swing music, standards and show tunes. You won't go wrong if you bring a copy of the Real Book vol 1 and perhaps 2 (although not all the tunes we play are drawn from these books).

The level of play is intermediate to advanced.

We play primarily acoustic stringed instruments. Gently amplified and wind instruments are also welcome. A grand piano is available at the location where we play if you don't want to bring your own ivories.

Saturday August 08, 2009
Start:

This can be a power session with up to 15 musicians sometimes. Very common to see 6-10. We play mainly 'pure drop' traditional irish tunes. ***The craic is mighty***

The Gaf has good food, drinks and a very supportive landlord.

There is always a good crowd of punters, including a bevy of lovely ladies who come for the tunes, drinks, dancing and who generally like to get out of line.

Sunday August 09, 2009
Start: 9 Aug 2009 6:00 pm
End: 9 Aug 2009 10:00 pm

We do potluck at 6:00 and jam until 10:00. We play the old time fiddle tunes on fiddles, banjos, mandolins, guitars and such. All acoustic.

Monday August 10, 2009
Start:

Our meetings consist of playing ukes, yapping about ukes, and learning about ukes. At each of our gatherings, members are encouraged to print out and bring a new tune. We always try and have some for the novice as well as the more intermediate (should I say advanced?) musicians. There are no egos and everyone is there because they love ukuleles and ukulele music.

Saturday August 15, 2009
Start: 15 Aug 2009 10:00 am
End: 15 Aug 2009 12:00 pm

We meet on the third Saturday of August for our regular jam session where we play primarily contra dance tunes, Irish and old time songs. Bluegrass, gospel and other acoustic music are certainly welcome, we just tend towards the tunes in our tune book and the "Carpilation" book from the Carp Camp at Winfield.

Join this group and look in the files area to see sheet music and midi files for our regular tunes.

Start: 15 Aug 2009 7:00 pm
End: 15 Aug 2009 10:00 pm

Bring your music, acoustic instruments, and favorite snack foods. Drinks will be provided.

We're excited to present a "new and improved" fiddling and picking championships. In 2009 we are adding a dance, increasing the prize money and expanding workshops. The weekend will have something for every musician and fan of traditional, acoustic music

The festivities kick off on Saturday the 22nd with workshops for musicians, dancers and families. That night there will be jamming in the park under a Kansas summer sky. See the schedule page for more info.
