This is a great jam hosted at St. Matthews United Church of Christ in Riverside, MO. It is put on by the members of the church. It is set up like a concert, with the player's chairs facing an audience, but it is not run like a concert. The song selection passes around the room, and the selections include old-time fiddle, celtic, country and the rare blues/rock number. Acoustic instruments and voices make up the group. The church members kindly "pay" the musicians with home made cookies and cakes. All skill levels are welcome.

This is a monthly jam session on the first Saturday of each month. We play swing music, standards and show tunes. You won't go wrong if you bring a copy of the Real Book vol 1 and perhaps 2 (although not all the tunes we play are drawn from these books).

The level of play is intermediate to advanced.

We play primarily acoustic stringed instruments. Gently amplified and wind instruments are also welcome. A grand piano is available at the location where we play if you don't want to bring your own ivories.

Our meetings consist of playing ukes, yapping about ukes, and learning about ukes. At each of our gatherings, members are encouraged to print out and bring a new tune. We always try and have some for the novice as well as the more intermediate (should I say advanced?) musicians. There are no egos and everyone is there because they love ukuleles and ukulele music.

This can be a power session with up to 15 musicians sometimes. Very common to see 6-10. We play mainly 'pure drop' traditional irish tunes. ***The craic is mighty***

The Gaf has good food, drinks and a very supportive landlord.

There is always a good crowd of punters, including a bevy of lovely ladies who come for the tunes, drinks, dancing and who generally like to get out of line.

Start:

We do potluck at 6:00 and jam until 10:00. We play the old time fiddle tunes on fiddles, banjos, mandolins, guitars and such. All acoustic.

The Depotredux folks would like acoustic bands or jam sessions to busk on the platform, or in the depot, depending on the weather. I love the idea of weary travelers encountering a flash mob of musicians at the Lawrence Amtrak depot. The train stops in Lawrence from midnight to 12:32 every day. Take your band down there any night, but let’s kick this thing off with a Bluegrass/Old Time Jam at 11:30 this Friday, June 19th.

Start:

We meet on the third Saturday of June for our regular jam session where we play primarily contra dance tunes, Irish and old time songs. Bluegrass, gospel and other acoustic music are certainly welcome, we just tend towards the tunes in our tune book and the "Carpilation" book from the Carp Camp at Winfield.

Join this group and look in the files area to see sheet music and midi files for our regular tunes.

Here are the tunes we played in May:

Soldiers Joy
St. Ann's Reel
Whiskey Before breakfast - sung first, instrumental second
Bill Cheatham
Red Haired Boy
Exile of Erin
Hewlett
