Our January jam was a great way to start off the year. Three weeks into it. :)

For those considering joining us, we meet on the third Saturday of January for our regular jam session where we play primarily contra dance tunes, Irish and old time songs. Bluegrass, gospel and other acoustic music are certainly welcome, we just tend towards the tunes in our tune book.

Join this group and look in the files area to see sheet music and midi files for our regular tunes.

This can be a power session with up to 15 musicians sometimes. Very common to see 6-10. We play mainly 'pure drop' traditional irish tunes. ***The craic is mighty***

The Gaf has good food, drinks and a very supportive landlord.

There is always a good crowd of punters, including a bevy of lovely ladies who come for the tunes, drinks, dancing and who generally like to get out of line.

Our meetings consist of playing ukes, yapping about ukes, and learning about ukes. At each of our gatherings, members are encouraged to print out and bring a new tune. We always try and have some for the novice as well as the more intermediate (should I say advanced?) musicians. There are no egos and everyone is there because they love ukuleles and ukulele music.

Please join Diane Gillenwater and I in front of the bank at 9th and Mass, in Lawrence, at 12:20PM on Saint Patrick's Day. The Parade Starts at 1:00. Parade route is South Park through Downtown, across the bridge;

Start:

Kick off your St. Patrick's Day in south KC with a stop into J Murphy's Pub and Grille to raise a pint and listen to folkjam's own B-Town String Band. They will appear from 1 - 4 playing their Irish best along with the old time and Americana that is their trademark.

Start:

Please join us at Steve Mason Luthiers and Violin Shop/Steve and Gayle's house this Tuesday, March 17th, to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. We will do potluck at 6:00 and jam until 10:00. We will try a Celtic tune or two but mostly we will try to drive snakes out by playing the old time tunes on fiddles, banjos, mandolins, guitars and such. All acoustic. Daughter Natalie will be home for spring break, and she has promised Corn beef and cabbage. There are more Irishmen in America than there are in Ireland. And on Saint Patrick's Day you don't even have to be Irish to be Irish.
