Prairie Moon Waldorf School’s third annual May Music Festival on May 3 features nine locally-grown bands, from blues to bluegrass. Add in a maypole dance, children’s crafts, seven picnic-perfect acres and free admission, and you have a truly family-friendly event.

Contra dance music, old time, some Irish trad, the occasional gospel, country and bluegrass tune. Come and join us. Fiddles, mandolins, hammered dulcimers, guitars, bass, flute, squeezebox, cello - whatever. Bring it.

Subscribe to this group on folkjam to get access to our tune book if you are paper trained or download the midi files for our tunes if you are ear trained. Music stands are welcome at this session, although not every tune we play has music available.

you can carry with you wherever you go, the backpacker flute is your
dream come true! These hand-crafted easy to play flutes are specifically
designed to be compact, lightweight and virtually indestructible. To make it
even better, they are constructed with the "less musically experienced" in
mind - you literally cannot play a bad note! Julie will teach you how to play
this beautiful and fun instrument, and you'll be making music by the time

Held at Longview Community College in Lee's Summit, MO, includes workshops, jams, and concerts. Workshops in all acoustic instruments including Hammered and Mountain dulcimers. Music Vendors, Jam Sessions and evening concerts are also a part of the JAM. Advance registration discounts until May 15th, Students are half price with ID. A jam session hosted by the founders of folkjam.org runs in the student center on the campus of Longview Community College at the Jubilee of Acoustic Music. This acoustic jam is open to anybody - no ticket to the Jubilee of Acoustic Music is required.

Bring your instrument and play some acoustic music with us. We'll play fiddle tunes, Bluegrass, Gospel, Irish, Country, Old-Time, Contra dance tunes - whatever you wish. If you can lead it, call it out and we'll play it.

After the final Saturday night concerts come join an open jam session where you can play with many of the teachers and performers from the 2008 Jubilee of Acoustic Music. You might have the opportunity to play with Jacquie Manning, Rich Prezioso, Christie Burns, Butch Ross, Dana Hamilton, Carl Cook, Cindy Egger-Farris, Princess Harris, Karen Daniels, Troy Pulver, Emily Wyatt, Martha Haehl, Richelle Basgall, Chris Carr and Rachel Bowerman.
