Town Square Jumpin'!
The Collierville (TN) Historic Town Square is jumpin' every Friday night to the sounds of bluegrass music! On Sept. 28, 2007, there were at least five good-sized groups of musicians and fans by the score! Restaurants were open, strolling families and curious onlookers were everywhere. The weather was cool, with a tinge of fall in the air! Ahhhh! How good is this?
We'll be at the town square for about two more weeks, and at some point we will go indoors. We have a wonderful indoor location for the entire fall/winter season. The Church of the Redeemer (Episcopal) is at 3100 S. Houston Levee Road, Collierville. Their congregation has invited us back for the second year in a row! We are so thrilled and grateful for their generous offer. They throw open the entire church for us--sanctuary, fellowship hall, Sunday School rooms, and outside on the porch for those occasional warm evenings. We love these fine folks for making us feel so welcome.
In about mid-April, we will return to the town square, where we will again pick throughout the spring, summer, and into early fall.
Get a jam started right there in your village, town, or city. All it takes is a few musicians, a hardware store/gas station/small-town grocery store, a little word-of-mouth, and a willing spirit! Let 'em know where you are and what you're doing. Weekends are great for a little bluegrass/folk/old-time music. Just haul off and do it!
Pick away!
