Blue Highway

Blue Highway filled the Lucy Opry on Sept. 22, 2007! The band and its superb musicians are who 'other' musicians come to see! Sharp young players do that from time to time...get out to see the top bands and try to figure out what makes them that way. From Jason Burleson (banjo) right on down through Rob Ickes on Dobro...with Shawn Lane (mando, fiddle, guitar), Tim Stafford (guitar) and Wayne Taylor (bass) in the middle...this band is top flight! They're up for seven IBMA awards during the World of Bluegrass week of October 1-7, 2007. Hats off to Blue Highway...sublime vocals and masterful instrumental work...their new project is due out in February of 2008.

The Lucy welcomes Alecia Nugent (remember Nugent's dad, Jimmy, in Southland Bluegrass, from down around Deville, LA?) in October, and we'll see the Steep Canyon Rangers in November. Lucy's had a great year: Grascals, DBFS, DL&Q, Sizemore, Rice & Rowan, Cedar Hill, Claire Lynch Band, BH, Alecia, and SCR! Wow!

Whether you're here or you're over yonder, get out and support your local bands and the professionals, too, when they come through town!

Come out and pick a tune or two with us some Friday night at the Collierville (TN) Historic Town Square Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Jam. We'll be headin' indoors in another few weeks. You'll find us at the Church of the Redeemer (Episcopal) at 3100 Houston Levee Road, Collierville, TN, from mid-October 'til mid-April...then the cycle begins anew.
